How am I dehumanizing them??? Bc I read about them being Gay????? They’re still human even if they’re gay in the fics u know??? I do know the difference between reality and fiction. I know they’re not ACTUALLY TOGETHER IRL. So why is it such a fucking problem for people to think people who have good chemistry look good together??? If someone thinks this ruins lives they’re so so fucking homophobic and so so fucking weak and not secure in their sexuality or the friendship they have with the other person.
You know Shane and Ryan have said that people shipping them makes them uncomfortable right? And you know that it’s weird and creepy to ship real life people, yeah?
Because… they AREN’T characters. You CAN’T just headcanon them as gay. Speaking from personal experience, when someone told me I would “be cute” with a close friend, I stopped showing him as much friendly physical affection because I wasn’t interested in dating him and I was concerned I could be sending mixed signals.
Now think about that. Think about how people, real actual people, might feel if they realize that people are writing about them as a couple, initially without their knowledge and definitely without their consent. Think about what it would feel like to realize hundreds of people are writing and/or reading graphic fanfiction about you and a close friend having sex.
It’s weird. It isn’t “just shipping” because these aren’t characters. They’re real people.
