As ‘The North’s Independence’ is currently being heavily discussed and debated, I just want to make the following clear….
- Robb’s campaign wasn’t some ‘cute teenage rebellion’. Northerners fought and died for it because it was something worth fighting for. He wasn’t motivated by war stories and glory, but the actual pain of losing his father, siblings and of the North being under tyrannical rule.
- Extending your empire to include a region / country that doesn’t want you isn’t ‘peace’. It’s imperalism.
- The Stark history isn’t all roses and sunshine. But they’re one of the very few families in the whole series who have improved from a moral standpoint. Meaning: Sansa, Arya, Jon and Bran are undisputable heroes, even if their ancestors may not have been.
- The Targaryens, however from Aegon The Conquerer right to Daenerys have displayed acts of cruelty.
- The North are under no obligation to support or to accept Targ rule. They want to be independent. That should be respected.
- Tyrion is no friend to The North. I love him, but c’mon.
- Robb’s campaign was justified, and The North’s campaign in season seven will also be justified.
- The North are fierce, yes but due to the Whitewalker threat they are on the insecure side. So it being used as a political ploy by Cersei and Daenerys is rather frustrating and sad.
- Pretty much: The North just want to be safe and independent. There are sympathetic factions in The South- the Vale, for instance (with some wanting to support Robb in the books). It’s more to do with Targaryen, Lannister and Greyjoy. They want power and control.
To sum up this dot-point rant, Northern Independence I will always support.
Gentle Mother, font of mercy,
Save our sons from war, we pray,
Stay the swords and stay the arrows,
Let them know a better day.
Gentle Mother, strength of women,
Help our daughters through this fray,
Soothe the wrath and tame the fury,
Teach us all a kinder way.↳ Nine Quotes [ 9/9 ]
You told me that life was not a song. That I would learn that one day, to my sorrow.
